Course Overview: In this hands-on course, students will learn to view mending not as a chore, but as a creative and sustainable act. Each week, we will explore different hand-mending and embroidery techniques that transform flaws and wear into unique features, extending the life of our cherished garments. This course combines practical skill-building with discussions on mindful consumption, culminating in a field trip to a local Oslo business to see sustainable fashion entrepreneurship in action.
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
Master foundational hand-stitching, darning, and embroidery techniques for repairs.
Apply the principles of "Visible Mending" to celebrate the history of a garment.
Develop a mending mindset to combat overconsumption and textile waste.
Confidently approach a variety of common repairs (holes, tears, thin fabric).
Understand mending as part of a larger sustainable and creative lifestyle.

Materials Needed:
All materials will be provided for mending; however, participants should bring clothing that needs repair from home.
