Clothes Mending & Sustainability - Season 2

Stitch with Intention

For Secondary Students

Price: 1500

Course Overview: In this hands-on course, students will learn to view mending not as a chore, but as a creative and sustainable act. Each week, we will explore different hand-mending and embroidery techniques that transform flaws and wear into unique features, extending the life of our cherished garments. This course combines practical skill-building with discussions on mindful consumption, culminating in a field trip to a local Oslo business to see sustainable fashion entrepreneurship in action.

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Master foundational hand-stitching, darning, and embroidery techniques for repairs.

  • Apply the principles of "Visible Mending" to celebrate the history of a garment.

  • Develop a mending mindset to combat overconsumption and textile waste.

  • Confidently approach a variety of common repairs (holes, tears, thin fabric).

  • Understand mending as part of a larger sustainable and creative lifestyle.
